Hi y'all,
I have a fondness for CD 154s, whatever nationality they might be. Last Saturday we stopped into a little but cool antique store with a group of dusty insulators. I found this one! First one I've ever managed to spot on my own. Its a Diamond CD 154-070, dark straw, virtually mint, with a fabulous carbon veil over the top of the skirt into the wire groove, about 5 cm long, up to 1 cm wide. Diamond/Dominion 154s are well known for their quality control, so the 'flaw' gives this a special beauty. Enjoy!

Well Lena, if that's your first, keep looking for the goodies.
It's an amazing batch of carbon for a <> 154. I've found a few very tiny bits of junk in these but your's is a top piece for that CD 154 <> . Enjoy, Pete |

You've definately turned up some good stuff in Alberta. All I ever find in Antique stores are $ 15 Hemi 9's

I guess there are some others out there! I too have one of these in the same colour and classification with carbon streaks. They must be batch mates! The one I have has streaks that are a little thinner but run from top to bottom. I was just as shocked to discover this as the glass in the 154 <> tends to be flawless.

Yeah I don't recall seeing much junk in a <> 154. Arne Lazzarotto picked a couple light yellow straw ones with blue streaks on a hunt we did. You had to look hard for the blue streaks though.

I thought the one I had was the same but mine is a 154 <P> SB but still peach. Is it possible that the molds could have been used at the same time from the same batch of glass?

Neat piece Lena. I have a light green with ghost embossing for you. Email me when you have time.

I passed a Hemingray 19 on at the Perth show last year , It was very much like this in the way the carbon looked.
A bit of goop or as in the case of those that had up & down lines near the mould line ( I think these are lubricant on the mould sides ) are perhaps very scarce but this one is the only one I've heard of. Any new finds since then Lena . ? Pete |

Long time between posts but here goes. I have a light yellow with the blue streak too, Rod. I got it from a 154 in a metal shield that had been taken from the downed poles in the valley here by Drumheller. I remember a discussion about clear 154s and this one looked clear, so I took it out and gave it a good clean, that's when I saw the light colour, bubbles and that blue streak just by the <>. I had seen them at your place. The streak is really faint but once you see it, it is definite and it is in a line of bubbles that comes up from the base pretty well to the top.

Nothing too exciting since the carbon, Pete, that I've 'found' on my own. That was a thrill to find. I have some Zicmes that are marvellously flawed. I've got a few other 154s that have interesting 'stuff' in them, like a <> with a piece of potstone, a Mclaughlin with carbon bits in it, a Hemingray with a sheen of what looks like metal filings. They are all so interesting.
