Default Second Hunt of 2010!

Okay, I promise not to create a new thread after every hunt

Was out today and tried a previously generous stretch in suburban Ottawa. The pickins were slim, or so I thought, until I spotted this little beauty from the pathway that replaced the tracks.

Yup, it's a GNW [010] in a colour I cannot identify. I would describe it as a light sage green, but this is not listed in the price guide. In the second photo I have placed it next to some other greens for comparison's sake. From left to right are a RB CanPac in light green, a sage green CanPac, my new GNW and a light green GNW slug plate. This pic is a bit dark, the first one is more accurate.

So, is this an unlisted peice, or considered to be a normal light green? I think it's sage or even grey-green.

Chris

You can just use the same thread each time,

The prob comes from the color sage, many don't care what the english language say's ( this doesn't include you Chris ) as you have just followed others .
A dictionary would say, sage is a plant with gray - green leaves , so sage - green is actually gray green.
Some have even argued that there is a sage silver color . This is just to make the insulator seem more desireable. They true color for that is silver with a dark cast.

How about the light yellow green in the listings.

On things like the whittle moulds , the term sage green is used to describe the dark cast in a green shade of glass , while not true sage , the blackness comes from manganese mostly from cullet mix.
These insulators with enough of it will purple up . Note the gray listing etc.
There are 2 moulds that were embossed G N W , yet they were reworked a few times giving more moulds with different looking embossings. P

Pete,

It's still not listed in that colour for that embossing index.

Either way, I think it's a good find... a bit of damage to the skirt on the rear and a few dome pecks...

I'd guess it's value to be $50-$75 if it were mint.

Hi Chris . I'm guessing you are concidering it the irregular spaced letters.
I can't tell for sure in the pic. I don't have the new book , is it now $50-75 ?
There are some in what is termed sage green but your's looks like light yellow green .
I have a good group of all the changes in these G N W 143's now and there are lots of slight color changes.
Yes though , any line that gives this item is good for lots of searches. Cliff had a line going a while back . P

Looks like light green, or light yellow green. Don't worry too much about the guide, there's a lot of colors they don't list for a specific embossing.

Nice find!

Yup, said line has turned up Montreals, unembossed RB 143's, threadless and now the GNW's, many of which have been found on the surface.
