Thumbs down Gotta Get Me Some STAIN

Hey All:

This is just getting a little ridiculous Ja Think........ Not sure if the Bids are legit or not... If they are legit Ouuuch... The eventual winners could have bought a lot of stain with all that wasted cash... Ah Well....

I think this is the same guy who showed me his "super rare" CD 145 B beehive in a dark maroon colour when I lived in Fredericton. I asked him about insulators one week at a flea market and the next week he brought it for me to see. He told me he was gonna try it on ebay because it was worth a lot of money, I think he thought I was going to make him an offer, I held it up to the light seen all the imperfections in the staining (not that it mattered) and politely handed it back to him and carried on. I think he knew I figured it out. What a chump.

That reminds me, I just came across a beautiful dark purple dominion-9 here at an antique mall, price is only 40$....anyone want me to pick it up for them? Sad part is I believe that the dealer probably bought it thinking it was legit.

Another reason I hate reproductions...gonna cause some major problems down the line, remember I stated this now.

I can't think the bids there are real. Too many of these things don't sell at all for one to suddenly reach over $100.00 US.

Don't you just love Ebay and all the fun stuff that is on there? Spending a $100 U.S. is about spending $65 a few years ago. They buy about the same amount. I can't help but look north and envy the 'rich' Canadians. At least it is getting easier to figure the money converstion, Eh?

I'd have to agree. Either they are all shill or its just one of the eBay anomalies that seem to occur on fake pieces every so often.

I had planned on bidding on a stained purple 122 from this seller, because it had only the <> embossing, something I lacked in my collection, knowing that the stain would probably come of in the acid, but it jumped up to nearly $75 at the end so I naturally opted out.

Just think, that Dominion-16 went for over 100x its book value for just being covered in cheap stain.

These are getting out of hand. Soon people will be selling full blown exact replicas, which will be given off as originals. Just give it time. Ive seen it already with other collectibles! Glass insulators would be harder, but its not impossible........ Stained and altered pieces are just the beggining.

Sad part is there is not alot we can do about it but spread the word, and not buy them.

On the bright side though, Cant wait to get out hunting and flea market searching for glass. WOO HOO!!

Off my Rant,

Cody

Hi, I've been watching these too. I bought one from the BC guy a few years ago, as a 'carnival' Dom-42, out of sheer curiousity. He, at that time, did not admit to it being stained. Anyway, its a lovely, smooth colour, not carnival but a rosy red-gold, and is downstairs in my 'who cares' shelf. I should bring it to the WCIC. It is pretty and I'm sure if you didn't know, you'd be taken. The staining is very well done.

I feel for the unsuspecting buyers, but these buyers are warned. This guy admits to his pieces being stained. So, if the bids are legit, those bidders should know they are altered. So, why are they still bidding? Do they believe? or actually want the colours? Could this be a decorating thing?

And, btw, yes it is much easier to convert from Canadian to US and vice versa.

Probably a "friend" bidding the price up.

May they all end up together.

Can't believe there is 1 stupid person out there suffering from the shill bidding and getting screwed in the process, while not realizing it. Now you know why scumbag seller keeps buyer's identities private. Here's another one that just went off this morning.....
